Micro Crying Residencies
Micro Crying Residencies were born from two needs: the need for somewhere to cry and the need for an artist residency.
I install vinyl text in my favorite bathrooms (and galleries!), featuring a mix of poetry, prose, jokes, and personal commentary about crying, being an artist, and navigating the in-between. So far, they’ve shown up in Fayetteville, AR and Lincoln, NE (with more to come?).
Each installation includes a sign-out sheet or a QR code for residency participants to quietly identify themselves and join the cohort. There’s also a shared Spotify playlist—feel the feel you feel feels real—where people can add their favorite songs to cry to.
It’s a way to build community in otherwise solitary spaces: the bathroom stall and the art practice.
